GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
GEO is the practice of optimising content so AI answer engines select, cite, or paraphrase it.
Coined by researchers in 2023–24, it shifts the goal from ranking in a list of links to being the source an AI quotes when it writes an answer. Unlike classic SEO, there's no fixed "position" — you compete for share of the answer.
Why it matters: As people ask AI instead of scrolling results, being cited becomes the new visibility.
